With Covid-19 and all of the craziness surrounding it, prenatal appointments have basically taken a halt. We had our first appointment and ultrasound on April 8th with our infertility clinic. Our next appointment was May 9th with a midwife, we have chosen to use a midwife to deliver in the hospital rather than an OB. I like the idea of a more hands on approach and less medical intervention and devices. I also like the idea of freedom to move around and be in different positions and even a labor tub. Fortunately the hospital near us offers a large midwife group supervised by OBs and all have authority to deliver in the hospital and offer medications and pain relievers if needed. Seemed like a win win. The appointment was strange, no exam, ultrasound or anything. Just questions while sitting in masks at least 10 feet apart. I chose to do the NIPT testing as well since we didn’t have the embryos tested. We will get those results as well as the gender in 10-14 days. Since we’ve never had the normal ultrasound or even heard the heartbeat I decided to buy a Sonoline B at home fetal doppler. Eric and I started searching for the heartbeat at 9 weeks. Finally at 11 weeks, we found it and it was amazing. We now check on baby bean (our nickname for them) every few days. It gives a lot of reassurance since nothing about this pregnancy is normal and appointments are far and few between. My next appointment isn’t until July 10th when I will be 21 weeks. That will be my second and last ultrasound. Kind of crazy! So far everything about this has been easy as could be, very little nausea or sickness, no weird cravings or pains. Honestly this is the most normal I have felt in a long time. The last day of PIO and Estrace was on April 29th and that was the best day ever! I though those would never end. I don’t look forward to having to go through that again for another baby but I will do what I have to do! We also did a count of all of our shots, 129 is what I came in at and that’s enough! Well I suppose this is all for now. I’ll update again later when I have more to report!
