We had our first ultrasound on March 8th. I was 7 weeks pregnant at the time. Unfortunately with Covid-19 Eric was not allowed in the building but he drove me to the appointment and waited in the car. I entered the building and was met with hand sanitizer, mask, gloves and a temperature check. I also had to sign consent papers saying that I accepted the risk of being treated. After checking in I went to the office, checked in again. Stood behind the line on the floor, six feet away from the receptionist. The waiting room was empty, all chairs had been removed so it was just me and the TV standing around waiting. Finally I was called back. I put my feet up in the stirrups for what felt like the millionth time and watched on the screen, this time for a very different reason. I FaceTimed Eric so he could be involved and see as well. Then the ultrasound tech pointed out on the screen what looked like a little flicker and she told us that was our baby's heartbeat. What an amazing thing to see! It was still too early to be able to hear it but seeing it was just enough! That day I was released by Cleveland Clinic Fertility, I graduated. The day we had been waiting for for so long, and my nurse was so excited to tell me over the phone. My next appointment will be with a Midwife on May 8th, we have chosen to deliver in a hospital but with a Midwife rather than Doctor. In the meantime we are still on cloud 9!
