Just another little acronym in the infertility world for you! But it’s true, I am pupo (pregnant until proven otherwise). Our frozen embryo transfer was today (March 9, 2020) at 2:15. We got up this morning had a nice and leisurely and lazy morning, then we headed up to Cleveland. I had about an hour to drink my 30oz of water. Once we got there and checked in, about 5 minutes later we were called back to their surgical center and assigned to room #5. I was given my hospital gown, hairnet and sticky socks. Eric changed into scrubs, hairnet, shoe covers and face mask. We signed some final paperwork and were taken back. It has been 6 months and 3 days since I was in that operating room, the same room I was in for my retrieval. I laid on the table, put my feet in the stirrups, the ultrasound tech got setup with my overly full bladder and uterus on the screen and the embryologist came out to confirm my identity one more time. The procedure itself really wasn’t bad, the best of all of them so far, thank goodness! It felt like a Pap smear basically. The Dr. put the speculum in, that was the most painful part, then he cleaned my cervix which was a little odd and crampy and then he put the catheter in which really didn’t hurt at all. The embryologist then showed us the embryo in the little dish on the screen and we got to watch her suck it up out of the dish into the catheter and then the Dr. put it in me and that was it. All about 10 minutes. They had an ultrasound of my uterus and bladder the whole time too so we could watch it going in like a little flicker. The whole thing was surreal and as soon as I saw the embryo on the screen I couldn’t hold the tears back and I immediately pictured a little boy. That little embryo is what we had been working 2 years for, that little embryo is our child. Half of me and half of Eric. Being able to see them as an embryo is truly the only blessing and benefit of this entire process. Now we wait, our beta test will be on March 23rd. So until then I will be taking it easy and acting pregnant!
